Our History

In 1973, Southwest Cargo had its informal beginning, with shipments of small packages via passenger request over the ticket counter. Then, in May 1990, Herb Kelleher approved the business cases for the small but mighty Cargo Management Group to function as an independent department by Southwest Airlines. Since then, we’ve been committed to providing specialized air cargo products with unmatched friendly, efficient, and Relentlessly Reliable airport-to-airport service.
