About Us

BARR FREIGHT SYSTEM is a family-owned and operated full-service transportation and logistics specialist serving the world. Our comprehensive range of services includes trucking, material and container handling, storage, and logistics, all backed by the vast experience of our dedicated staff. Decades of hard work have built our success, allowing us to deliver exceptional service to our customers.

In 1941, Sam J. Barranco purchased Freeport Fast Freight, Inc., laying the foundations of his family’s American Dream. Over the years, the operation expanded, with significant growth in 1965 under the leadership of sons John and Bill. In 1980, Barr Freight System began operating as a contract carrier and authorized common carrier, handling both LTL (less-than-truckload) and full truckloads. The mid-1990s saw further expansion as we leveraged global shipping and distribution trends, becoming a U.S. Customs Bonded Freight Station and certified U.S. Cartman.

Today, Barr Freight System is a leading transportation and logistics operation. Our 200,000 square foot warehouse in Bolingbrook, Illinois, is strategically located for both short- and long-term storage, accommodating heavy-freight materials and containers on special-built chassis. We serve nationwide customers with our advanced logistics and tracking systems. Under the guidance of Bill Barranco and his family, our operation remains dedicated to delivering outstanding service. As we enter our third generation, we continue to build on a tradition of hard work and unity of purpose.
